Friends of St Lawrence

Last modified: October 13, 2017

The Friends of St. Lawrence is our schools equivalent of a Parent, Teachers Association, (PTA).

When a child becomes a pupil at St. Lawrence, Parents, Guardians, Grandparents; anyone that would like to have an active role in supporting the school, is welcome to become part of ‘The Friends’.

The main role is to fund raise for the school. Money raised goes to help buy equipment, fund school visits and help with transport costs for swimming etc. All money raised benefits your child. The main events are Easter Bingo, The School Summer Fair and and the Christmas Fair.

You choose how involved you would like to be. Meetings are usually held straight after the school day. They are run with a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer; volunteers from Parents etc. There are usually one or two school staff members present and other interested Parents etc. which form an organising committee. Decisions are taken by this committee, on which events to hold and what organisation needs to be put in place.

Apart from the committee we always need willing volunteers to help on the day/night. For example this could be helping to set up/clear away, running a stall, serving refreshments or helping to sell raffle tickets.
